One hundred years later, as we celebrate the centennial of this momentous occasion, we must also remember the women who the suffrage movement and the 19th Amendment left behind.

On Friday, June 5, we observe Wear Orange Day, a national day of awareness about the scourge of gun violence in the United States. We wear orange to call attention to the epidemic of gun violence facing our country, and to fight for a future free from gun violence. 

Congress failed to reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act in April. While the law itself remains intact, reauthorization has served as an essential mechanism for advocates to revise and improve the law as we learn more about how to address domestic violence.
