Nazshonnii Brown-Almaweri

Nazshonnii Brown-Almaweri is a farmer and STEM educator with a background in mechanical engineering, studio arts, and French and Francophone studies. She works at the Sogorea Te ' Land Trust (STLT) in the Territory of Huchiun (Oakland, California). Through her work with STLT, an urban Indigenous women-led land trust that returns Indigenous land to Indigenous people, she co-leads mutual aid distributions, land care, and cultural education. Nazshonnii advocates for STEAM exposure and opportunities for the historically excluded people, especially Black andNativeyouth. In college, Naz participated in Hillel and interfaith groups like IFYC. Growing up, her family was often the only melanated people in the shul and sometimes the only Black people their congregations had met.
