Long a congregational rabbi, Rabbi Jonathan R. Katz recently served as director of the Jewish Healing Department and Community Chaplain at JFCS in Sarasota, Florida. His articles have appeared in The Washington Post, The Forward, The Times of Israel, and other prominent Jewish and secular publications. Rabbi Katz founded LearningLites.com, an initiative that provides captivating stories of discovery in places people least expect to find them – on metro cars, restaurant take-out boxes, and packaging. He also created Sidedoor Judaism, a series of innovative programs that locate gratifying entryways into Jewish identity, understanding, and values which an increasing number of Jews today no longer think are still possible.
