The Torah In Haiku: Vayikra
Even in Torah
One's ignorance of the law
Is not an excuse
Leviticus 4:13-14:If the whole congregation of Israel sins through ignorance, and the thing is hidden from the eyes of the assembly, and they have done something against any of the commandments of G-d concerning things which should not be done, they are guilty; When the sin becomes known, then the congregation shall offer a young bull for the sin, and bring him before the Tent of Meeting.
Similar language appears in this week's portion for when an individual leader or lay person sins through ignorance (Lev 4:22-23 and 4:27-28)
