Turning a Super Bowl Bet into a "Super Mitzvah"

Rabbi Joe Black is the senior rabbi of Temple Emanuel in Denver, CO. His friend and colleague, Rabbi Daniel A. Weiner, is senior rabbi of Temple DeHirsch Sinai of Seattle, WA. Though Rabbi Weiner is a lifelong fan of the San Francisco 49ers, he watched during the recent NFL playoffs as his beloved team fell to his adopted town's team, the Seattle Seahawks. Nonetheless, he has agreed to a friendly wager with Rabbi Black: If the Seahawks win the Superbowl, Rabbi Black will donate $100 to Rabbi Weiner's favorite Seattle-based charity, Jewish Family Service of Seattle. If the Broncos win, Rabbi Weiner will donate $100 to a Denver-based charity of Rabbi Black's choice, Jewish Family Service of Denver.

"But we can multiply this mitzvah - no matter who wins," says a video created to spread the word about their bet. Together with three friends (also rabbis!), they've created an online fundraiser to encourage others to donate to what they're calling a "Super Mitzvah." Watch the video below and weigh in: Who do you want to see win the Super Bowl this weekend?
