Save the Date: Advocate and Celebrate with RJV

March 1, 2012
Do you love advocacy and meeting with legislators? Are you passionate about Jewish social justice? Then join Reform Jewish Voice of New York State (RJV) on Monday, May 7, 2012 in Albany, New York for our annual Advocacy Day!  We will be spending the day at the state Capitol hearing about the important issues of the day, learning how to be an effective advocate and meeting with state legislators to inform them of our policy agenda for this legislative session. This year, RJV will be focusing on three crucial issues for New York State: reproductive rights, campaign finance reform and an increase in the minimum wage.  Prior to Advocacy Day itself, there will be informational briefing calls on each of the issues. Advocacy Day is a particularly special event this year because RJV is celebrating its 10th Anniversary!  In the last decade, RJV has grown in size and influence around New York State and especially in Albany.  After a two year campaign that included countless phone calls, lobby visits in legislators’ home and Albany offices, and an entire Shabbat weekend dedicated to the issue, we were gratified by the passage of marriage equality last year. In honor of RJV’s 10th Anniversary and the important work we have accomplished, a special reception will be held following our day at the Capitol.  The cost of the entire day is $25 and includes breakfast, lunch and the 10th Anniversary reception. Join Reform Jews from around New York State as we celebrate RJV’s decade of commitment to Jewish social justice and shape the conversation surrounding the most important issues of the day in Albany and around the state.
