The ongoing devastation of war in Israel and Gaza raises many questions. While we may not have all the answers, a deeper understanding of both the Jewish and the Palestinian narratives helps us to form our own thoughts and engage in discussions with others. By learning the historical context of this region, we can better understand the origins and ongoing development of the conflict between these two peoples. There will be an accompanying handout and time for questions.
With Rabbi Lawrence Englander, Rabbi Emeritus of Solel Congregation in Mississauga, Ontario and co-editor of "The Fragile Dialogue: New Voices in Liberal Zionism" (CCAR Press, 2018). Rabbi Englander helped establish two interfaith organizations: a community food bank and a non-profit housing corporation and, in 2005, was awarded Canada's the highest civilian honor, Member of the Order of Canada, for his justice work.
