    Ki Teitzei, Deuteronomy 21:10–25:19

Ever wanted to see how relatable the Torah really is? Counselors at URJ Kutz Camp, a Reform Jewish leadership camp for teens ,wanted to do just that. They made awesome raps discussing the weekly Torah portion, or parasha, for an entire year!

In this parasha, Moses explains  a bunch of laws, including family, divorce and more. He says not to forget the evil acts of Amalek. Listen to learn the laws listed and explained.

Saturday morning and the peeps are here
It’s time for Shabbat – let me get a cheer
We’ll talk about Moses, Aaron, the Levites too
Ayyoo Matt, you know what to do

You remember last week, we know you do
With our NFTY Prez Kathryn joining the crew
Sign up for Convention, it’ll be a hit
Shoftim was the portion, it was pretty fricken lit

It’s Ki Teitzei, let’s get it yo
When you go out to battle, let’s give ‘em mo
Of that Compassion and kindness and justice too
Even in war, being a righteous Jew

This week is kinda weird peeps, not gonna lie
Some of these 613 just make me wanna cry
There’s a lot of situations, can’t name them all

But we’ll try our best and then we’ll have a ball
If you got two wives and they both have a son
You must accept the first-born, and then you’re done

If your child is defiant, the city can kill
See an ox on the road, take it back to the mill

It says men wear pants, and women wear a dress
But we don’t really care, just be you no less
Don’t commit adultery or become a prostitute
If you make a vow to God, you best be telling the truth
Take care of the poor and needy in the land
We’re all in this together, walking hand in hand

Like we said this stuff is weird, but it’s important to know
Learning all of this Torah will help you grow
