Ever wanted to see how relatable the Torah really is? Counselors at URJ Kutz Camp, a Reform Jewish leadership camp for teens ,wanted to do just that. They made awesome raps discussing the weekly Torah portion, or parasha, for an entire year!
In this parasha, Joseph interprets Pharaoh’s dreams, predicting prosperity followed by famine. Listen to hear about the dreams and the rough time Joseph has when his brothers come to visit…you don’t want to miss it!
Saturday morning and the peeps are here
It’s time for Shabbat – let me get a cheer
We’ll talk about creation, the garden, the great flood, too,
Ayyoo Matt, you know what to do
Throwback to last week, we quickly learned
About Joseph and his coat, but then he got burned
By his brothers, it was bad, he’s taken away
To Egypt land, man this stuff is pretty cray
Joseph is the key to the powers that be
For Pharaoh seeks him for he can foresee
He’s a dream interpreter, not some mask
Proved last week he’s up to the mighty task
Tell me your problems O Mighty One
I’m a dream interpreter, it’s time to get it done
Pharaoh had dreams of cows and grain
What could this mean, he racked his brain
So he sent for Joseph, when no one else could see
The meaning of his dreams and what would be
When his brothers come to Egypt, Joseph is cold
He keeps Simeon, the brothers do as their told
They go back home, and bring Benjamin back
But Joseph keeps going, giving them no slack
2016, what a wild year it’s been
It’s almost 2017 we’re about to begin
Happy Hanukkah, Happy New Year, sending peace to all
Here’s to more raps and more smiles, we’re still having a ball!
Thanks for listening to our 31st rap
Stay tuned for more, we’re putting ourselves on the map
This has been your - Shabbat Sha’Rap!!!
