Acharei Mot (and K’doshim) for Teens: Shabbat Sha-raps

Acharei Mot - K’doshim, Leviticus 16:1-20:27

Have you ever been curious how relatable the Torah really is? A group of staff from the Kutz365 Alumni Network decided to spend an entire year rapping the weekly Torah portion, or parasha, from the Torah. Shabbat Sha'Raps started at camp in the summer of 2016, and then grew through Zoom over the course of an entire year. Filmed from Zoom boxes around the globe, this creative interpretation of Torah is a fun and easy way to understand the weekly Torah portion. Join Evan, Matt, Melissa, and lots of special guests on this joyful journey of discovering Torah!

This is part of another double parasha*, so let’s dig in. The head priests are told what to do with a scapegoat (you know, when you want to blame the sins on someone else!) Plus, we learn about atonement for sins and are warned against prohibited acts.

Then, in K’doshim, God issues more commandments on how the people should be holy. This is sometimes referred to as "the Holiness Code." Listen to learn some of them!

*Sometimes two Torah portions are read together on one Shabbat, making it a double parasha.
