B’shalach for Teens: Shabbat Sha-raps

Have you ever been curious how relatable the Torah really is? A group of staff from the Kutz365 Alumni Network decided to spend an entire year rapping the weekly Torah portion, or parasha, from the Torah. Shabbat Sha'Raps started at camp in the summer of 2016, and then grew through Zoom over the course of an entire year. Filmed from Zoom boxes around the globe, this creative interpretation of Torah is a fun and easy way to understand the weekly Torah portion. Join Evan, Matt, Melissa, and lots of special guests on this joyful journey of discovering Torah!
In last week’s parasha, the Israelites were told they could leave Egypt, but now Pharaoh changes his mind! The Israelites still leave but with little time to prepare; an exciting exodus ensues. Then they're in the desert - listen to learn about that, too!

Saturday morning and the peeps are here
It’s time for Shabbat – let me get a cheer
We’ll talk about Pharaoh, Moses, the Red Sea too
Ayyoo Matt, you know what to do
Throwback to last week, Parashat Bo
We had a bunch of plagues to let our people go
Pharaoh said “see ya” and we left this time
Let’s continue this story with a little rhyme
Well just when we thought we were totally free
Pharaoh changes his mind and sends his whole army
The people were scared, so what did we do
Moses did his part, but there was one in the crew
Who stepped up big and led us all
He had major courage and was ready to ball
His name is Nachshon and he led us across
The entire Red Sea, what a boss
We had a revolution, and a revelation
So come on and listen to our declaration
We’re going home and that’s a fact
Going to the Promised Land to make a pact
On the other side, we thank the Lord
For saving us and taking us toward
A bright new future, where we’ll thrive
But before all that, we gotta survive
We get some sweet rules about Shabbat
No working on the 7th day, like we’re taught
We get manna, water, and a little war too
But we’re going strong, our little Israelite crew
Thanks for listening to our 37th rap
Stay tuned for more we’re putting ourselves on the map
This has been your, Shabbat Sha-Rap
