Vayigash for Teens: Shabbat Sha-raps

Vayigash, Genesis 44:18−47:27

Have you ever been curious how relatable the Torah really is? A group of staff from the Kutz365 Alumni Network decided to spend an entire year rapping the weekly Torah portion, or parasha, from the Torah. Shabbat Sha'Raps started at camp in the summer of 2016, and then grew through Zoom over the course of an entire year. Filmed from Zoom boxes around the globe, this creative interpretation of Torah is a fun and easy way to understand the weekly Torah portion. Join Evan, Matt, Melissa, and lots of special guests on this joyful journey of discovering Torah!

Listen in to this parasha as Joseph reveals his identity to his brothers and their father finds out! The whole family is allowed to go back to live in Goshen, but it won’t end there! Listen now!

Saturday morning and the peeps are here
It’s time for Shabbat – let me get a cheer
We’ll talk about creation, the garden, the great flood, too,
Ayyoo Matt, you know what to do

Throwback to last week, Joseph is told
To interpret some dreams, man that’s pretty bold
Cause it’s for Pharoah but he does it well
It’s weird with his brothers, let’s rap and tell

At first Joseph made an elaborate plot
That all of his brothers and Egypt bought|
But he eventually reveals his identity
His brothers don’t believe - this just can’t be

But it’s true, it’s Joseph that’s fo sho
He’s been living in Egypt running the show
There’s a big reunion, love comes out
Hugs and kisses beyond any doubt

Joseph tells his bros to get Jacob here
They should all live in Goshen without any fear
66 in total, they won the prize
From here on out, Israel multiplies

There’s a famine all around in Egypt land
Ain’t no crops growing in the desert sand
Joseph helps the peeps to survive
Stay tuned for next week, as we try to thrive

Thanks for listening to our 32nd rap
Stay tuned for more, we’re putting ourselves on the map
This has been your - Shabbat Sha’Rap!!!
