This year, our remembrance of the terrible tragedy of 9/11 falls eerily during the Yamin Noraim, the Days of Awe between Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur. This unusual timing gives us a chance to pause and consider this occasion at a most solemn time of year. Today, in cities through the country, people will gather to pray, to remember the victims of 9/11, and to read the names of the fallen. And in just a few days, many of us will attend a Yizkor service to remember loved ones who have passed away and to honor those who have perished as they upheld Jewish values.
May their souls find peace, may their loved ones find courage and comfort to endure, and may our communities continue to grow in strength to honor the memory of those who have passed on fallen.
