Creating another person is among the most magical things we humans are capable of. We know about science and biology, and the process of reproduction, but when it happens or doesn't there is nothing scientific about the way it feels. It feels like magic. We either have it or we don't.

Redeeming Esau, Redeeming Ourselves

Recognizing Torah Voices

Among the most exquisite stories in all of Tanach is Genesis 27, Isaac's blessing of Jacob. In this essay I wish to highlight the artistry of this author. I shall also draw attention to the bracketing structure that the redactor has built around the story.
