Courtney Cooperman

Courtney Cooperman (she/her) is a former Eisendrath Legislative Assistant (class of 2020-2021). She grew up in Short Hills, NJ, as a member of Congregation B’nai Jeshurun. Following her time at the RAC, Courtney joined the National Low Income Housing Coalition, where she is the project manager of the Our Homes, Our Votes campaign. Courtney graduated from Stanford University with a BA in Political Science and interdisciplinary honors in Ethics in Society. Her honors thesis explored the relationship between homelessness and political equality. Courtney is currently pursuing an MA in Public Policy with a concentration in Philosophy & Social Policy at George Washington University.

This Passover, we turn our attention to the plight of the Uyghur Muslims in China, one of today’s most horrific human rights crises. Roughly 12 million Uyghurs live in Xinjiang Province, a region in northwestern China.

Four Cups of Wine: A Climate and Environmental Justice Haggadah Insert

Each Passover, we join together to drink four cups of wine to represent the promises of freedom that God made to the Israelites in Egypt. This Passover we will make four new promises: to mitigate, adapt, protect, and conserve. As we welcome Elijah for a fifth cup of wine, we will also welcome a commitment to climate action and environmental justice, in order to promote the health of our earth and all its inhabitants.
